Howdy!
I picked up my freshly bored and honed B18C from the machine shop a couple of weeks ago. According to the shop, everything was healthy and within specs! Pistons ring grooves have been cleaned up too. So I've thrown in a new set of piston rings (Honda 13011-PR3-003). All rings rotated freely, and the gaps have been correctly positioned. I've cleaned and coated the piston and the piston walls with engine oil prior installation, and slid in all four pistons without too much hassle (cyl 2 required a retry).
Now after rotating the crank by hand a couple of times, I've noticed some vertical micro-scratches appear on some areas of the upper portion of the cylinder walls. Running my nail won't catch on any of them. You cannot appreciate them but you definitely can see them. I've been searching on the Internet and it seems I shouldn't be too much concerned and just run it, but I'd like to hear from any of you having gone through a rebuild process of a B-Series. Maybe a debris? Should I carry on without worrying too much? Or should I take a couple of steps back?
What would you recommend?
Thank you!
